Personal Health
There are many changes which occur during adolescence and this time of life can be challenging for both young people and their families. Young people go through rapid physical and emotional changes during this transition period between childhood and adulthood.
These changes can bring about challenges in relationships with family and friends and bring about feelings which can sometimes be confusing. Often young people want to talk with someone they can trust about these feelings and changes.
Telling someone about what is upsetting you often helps people sort through feelings and this can make the situation clearer. Keeping things to your self can often make the situation appear more overwhelming than it actually is. Talking things through can help you to release tension and consider all strategies and options. We often see young people for the following reasons at school:
- Health concerns
- Feeling unhappy
- Smoking
- Drugs and alcohol
- Eating disorders
- Relationship concerns/sexual health
- Puberty, growing up
There are several local services who can help with issues affecting young people. These services can be contacted directly by telephone and they treat all enquiries confidentially.
